Boosting Your Immune System

Another way to improve immune system function is through food.  According to the April 2010 edition of Muscle and Fitness magazine, Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS, explains that “Active bodies are under increased stress form exercise, and can benefit form certain supplements and nutrients.” Also according to the same editions Muscle and Fitness article, Andrea Platzman, MS, RD, CDN, LDN says “While there are certainly no guarantees in the crapshoot of wellness, including these 19 foods and supplements in your diet could be your best shot at avoiding a runny nose and serious downtime from training.”

The following are foods and supplements that have been shown to strengthen the immune system:
